A standard web server log records every request: your IP address, the time, the page address, and a description of the browser. The logs let us keep the site running and count visits. The site never sets cookies or runs advertising and analytics scripts from outside companies.

The checkers save your most recent answers (fuel, model year, state, and the tool settings) in your browser's local storage. That information stays on your device and never leaves it. You can remove it anytime by clearing your browser's site data.

The server logs are visible to us and to the firms that host and deliver the site, but only to keep it running. We keep logs no longer than 13 months. No personal information gets shared for advertising; we do not sell it to anyone.

State privacy laws give these choices to residents of California, Virginia, Colorado, Connecticut, Utah, Texas and several more states. You may ask to see the personal information kept about you. You may also ask for it to be corrected, deleted, or no longer sold or shared. Email your request to hello@emissions-test.com. Expect a reply within 45 days, and the checkers will work the same for you whether you ask or not.

Drivers are the audience for this site. If someone is under 13, we do not knowingly gather information from them.

Any important change to this notice will be posted here as a new version.
